Richard Giles

Richard is a Partner in HWL Ebsworth’s Commercial group. He was admitted to the Supreme Court of South Australia in 1977 and the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory in 1980.

Prior to joining HWL Ebsworth, Richard was the Managing Partner of Cridlands from 2000 to 2008 and a partner of Cridlands MB. Richard is highly experienced in providing a broad range of commercial legal representation and advice.

Experience

Richard’s recent experience includes:

  • Targets, acquirers and sellers: In relation to the acquisition and disposal of pastoral and other rural properties;
  • Mining companies: In relation to mining projects (including for Vista Gold Australia and Gemco) including advice on land access (ALRA and native title), joint venture, mining and royalty agreements as well as regulatory advice on mining, environment and other issues;
  • Various property owners and developers: In relation to property development projects; and
  • Municipal councils: Acting for various local government bodies including the City of Darwin, the City of Palmerston and Katherine Town Council on local government issues, administrative matters, regulatory advice, projects and other matters, including advice on procurement, service, construction and other contracts.
