Philip Brown is an Accredited Specialist in Planning and Environment Law, and has practiced in the area since 2003.

Philip has specialist expertise in relation to a wide range of issues associated with local government, planning and environmental law.

Philip regularly conducts litigation in the Land and Environment Court on behalf of local government and developer clients, as well as providing advice in relation to all aspects relevant to planning, environmental and local government law.

Experience

Philip’s recent experience includes advising:

  • Hunters Hill Council on conducting a successful Class 5 prosecution for removal of trees;
  • Confidential developer client in Class 4 judicial review proceedings challenging a development consent on neighbouring land impacting upon access, resulting in a successful outcome;
  • Environment Protection Authority on a class 5 prosecution, including appearing as advocate at the sentencing hearing, with respect to air pollution and waste offences;
  • St George Bank (as mortgagee in possession of contaminated land) in relation to contaminated land issues; and
  • Bayside Council in relation to various issues associated with Mascot Towers.
