Katharine assists doctors and hospitals defend allegations of medical negligence. She also assists doctors subject to Medical Board, Office of Health Ombudsman, Medicare and coronial investigations.

Katharine’s experience includes advising:

  • Numerous doctors on responding to proposed immediate registration actions suspending registration, preparing submissions in a limited time frame to ensure that the doctors’ interests are protected;
  • Confidential client (doctor) with applying for judicial review of a decision by a hospital to remove credentials;
  • Medical Defence Organisations with representing doctor members in investigations by the Office of the Health Ombudsman and Medical Board of Australia;
  • Confidential client (doctor) with filing an appeal in QCAT against a decision to restrict registration and successfully negotiating new reduced conditions; and
  • Various Medical Defence Organisations and Hospitals on providing representation and advice in defending claims for damages for personal injuries caused by professional negligence pursuant to the Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002 (PIPA).
