Chris Egan

Chris specialises in all areas of employment law with particular expertise in enterprise bargaining, disputation and industrial action, terminations of employment, and senior executive employment and restraints.

Chris advises predominantly corporate clients in a range of industries, including maritime, manufacturing, building and construction, government, professional services, insurance and sport.

Experience

Chris’ recent experience includes:

  • Maritime (MV Portland dispute): Acted for a ship manager in respect in two months of high profile industrial action involving numerous proceedings in the Fair Work Commission and Federal Court against the MUA and employees;
  • Building and construction: Acted for a leading contractor in enterprise bargaining and disputation with the CFMEU;
  • Professional Services: Acted for a professional services organisation in employment issues arising from a restructure and IPO;
  • Agriculture: Acted in litigation involving a “group move” of key employees between competitors dealing with restraint of trade issues; and
  • Insurance: Acted for numerous employers under Employment practices liability insurance policies defending sexual harassment, unfair dismissal, wrongful dismissal, bullying and other claims.
