Late last year the Australian Government released a consultation paper calling for the abolition of state-based trucking regulation in favour of a single national body to administer and regulate heavy vehicle operation in Australia.

Businesses and individuals involved in trans-Tasman civil legal cases are set to benefit from reforms that will make legal process easier and more affordable.

With Chain of Responsibility (CoR) legislation, in particular legislation regulating fatigue management in the heavy vehicle industry, now operating in most States in Australia all parties in the supply chain must have adequate systems in place for ensuring that a driver of a heavy vehicle does not drive while fatigued.

With the release of the second report of the National Harmonisation Review Panel, the framework for the national OHS legislation is starting to take shape.
