02 August 2017

Leading independent Australian law firm HWL Ebsworth Lawyers has announced its second tranche of internal promotions for 2017 with the appointment of a further four new partners and seven new special counsel.

These latest appointments follow the internal promotion of eleven partners and ten special counsel in February this year.

The newly appointed partners are:

  • James Lofting – Planning, Environment & Government (Melbourne office);
  • Justin Pasa – Commercial (Melbourne office);
  • Katherine Shann – Banking & Finance (Brisbane office); and
  • David Woodford – Commercial (Melbourne office).

The firm has also promoted Andrew Crocker (Workplace Relations & Safety – Melbourne office), Anita Wear (Insurance – Sydney office), Kathy Gray (Property – Sydney office), Katrina Pagey (Litigation – Brisbane office), Ryan Sanders (Litigation – Darwin office), Veena Bedekar (Government, Commercial and Property – Canberra office) and Veronica Mignone (Litigation – Adelaide office) to the position of special counsel.

A further eighteen team members have been promoted to the position of senior associate.

“Each of the promoted team members have demonstrated a commitment to delivering outstanding quality and value, while concentrating on continuous improvement for the benefit of our clients and the firm more broadly. Their promotions are a reflection of their potential to play an even greater role in the firm’s continued growth, and I congratulate all of our promoted team members for taking this next exciting career step” said Juan Martinez, HWL Ebsworth Managing Partner.

“We have invested heavily in our internal resources and training programs in recent years, and we are benefiting from that now. Our merit based approach to promotions and remuneration also ensures that all team members have the ability to reach their full potential. They do not need to contend with artificial restrictions on their career progression as we don’t restrict the number of partners that we can have in any particular Practice Group or office. I am confident that our staff development strategies will see our internal growth accelerate further over the next twelve months” Juan added.
