The latest Thomson Reuters league tables have confirmed that HWL Ebsworth continues to increase market share, with results showing the firm advised on the 2nd highest number of completed M&A deals in the Australian market during 2016. In addition to the completed deal tables, HWL Ebsworth also advised on the 3rd highest number of announced deals for the year, an impressive feat, having improved this ranking from the position of 15th in 2015 and 25th in 2014. In the mid-market tables, which reflects all M&A deals under US$500 million, HWL Ebsworth’s moved from 14th by number of announced M&A deals, to the 2nd highest number of deals in Australia.
Jamie Restas, HWL Ebsworth’s National Head of the Commercial Group, commented that:
“The volume of M&A transactions in the market in terms of our deal flow was definitely up this year from last, which is pleasing given the strategy of the corporate group was to continue to grow market share.”

These results follow a solid year of M&A activity including an array of high profile deals such as Eureka Funds Management’s acquisition by AXA Investment Managers and Val Morgan’s acquisition of Active Media Group.
