Veronica Mignone is an experienced litigator in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Team.

Veronica has wide-ranging experience in complex commercial litigation and advice work, including high profile and large scale defamation proceedings, regulatory investigations and prosecutions, contractual disputes, freedom of information requests and corporations law matters.

Veronica advises on defamation claims by individuals and also acts for a number of major media organisations including television and newspapers in relation to the full range of media issues including defending large scale defamation proceedings.

Veronica has advised large public and private companies as well as smaller companies and organisations in the not-for-profit sector in relation to corporate governance and regulatory compliance.

Veronica has acted for leading corporations in the energy and resources sector in Australia on matters ranging from major work health and safety incidents, joint venture disputes and arbitrations.

Veronica has advised corporations on the management of critical incidents from the early investigative process through to the prosecution phase and advised on all matters triggered by an incident including compliance with statutory reporting obligations, enforcement of rights during an investigation, protection of privilege in communications, media releases and confidentially agreements.

Veronica is also a member of the State Government advisory committee for the Volunteering Strategy for South Australia.

  • Seven Network: Successfully acting in relation to various defamation claims arising from broadcasts throughout Australia;
  • Individual plaintiffs: defamation claims arising from electronic and online publications (including social media);
  • Various clients: Acting in relation to FOI and information disclosure processes;
  • Various clients: Removal of inappropriate online and social media content;
  • Santos Limited: Defending Santos Limited as operator of a major gas plant following an explosion and fire; and 
  • Various corporates: preparing statutory compliance manuals, reporting guidelines and privilege protocols to trigger and maintain legal professional privilege in subsequent internal and external communications in respect of managing critical incidents.
